Hello, my name is Sheleen and I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Aldridge.
You may be wondering if counselling is for you? Maybe you have been struggling for some time and have reached a point in your life where you want to address the challenges you are facing?
Counselling can offer a space for you to explore these difficulties, whether that be anxiety or generalised anxiety disorder, depression, panic attacks or a panic disorder, relationship issues, family issues, phobias, or maybe you are experiencing feelings of sadness or other difficult emotions. Whatever your circumstances, counselling may be the place where you can have time and space to explore, and where awareness can develop to help you face these difficulties within a confidential, non-judgemental environment.
I understand that the idea of counselling may be daunting especially if you have not had counselling before, and even if you have, it can still be very challenging meeting a new counsellor for the first time. Our first session would be a time where we could explore what brings you to counselling and what you would like from counselling. Don’t worry if you are unsure as we can explore this together. We would also explore whether you would like to work with me as your counsellor and for me to assess whether I think I can offer you what you need from counselling.
As a therapist I work in a way where I support you to become more aware of the choices that you have, so that with my support you can use your own autonomy to develop and work through your difficulties.
I work as an integrative therapist, meaning that I base my understanding as a counsellor on a number of different theories and integrate them to help you achieve what you want from counselling.
I aim to offer you a space where you can relax and be yourself in a non-judgemental, confidential environment.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, work-related concerns, bereavement, rape, sexual violence, trauma, shame, guilt and other concerns that individuals face that may make day-to-day living feel like a struggle or challenge. I have experience working with issues that have recently developed, as well as working with issues that have been present in a person's life over a number of years, sometimes going as far back as childhood.
I offer weekday appointments, evening appointments and Saturday appointments.
The initial session and all additional sessions are charged at £50 for fifty minutes.
Please feel free to give me a call if you would like to explore if counselling is for you.
